Derby Refugee Forum was established in 2002 and is a registered charity based at the Bosnia and Herzegovina Centre in Derby. The organisation was founded by members of Derby’s Bosnian community, who had experienced a warm welcome in the city and wanted to offer the same support to refugees and asylum seekers from all backgrounds.

Originally set up as an advice centre, Derby Refugee Forum has grown into a welcoming community hub. Alongside providing practical advice and guidance, we now offer educational opportunities, a Warm Space, wellbeing activities, and opportunities for people to connect, socialise, and build supportive relationships.

Our work is made possible by a dedicated team of volunteers who generously give their time and skills to support those seeking sanctuary. More than 20 years on, we remain committed to helping refugees and asylum seekers feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to build positive futures in Derby.
